Richard Hendriks was born March 5, 1964, and grew up in Southern Chester County. His racing career began at age 16 when he rode his first winner aboard his parents steeplechser T.V. Warrant in 1980. While working for W. Burling Cocks  through the 1980s, Ricky was champion jockey twice in 1986 and 1987.  
     
   
     
  Ricky embarked on his training career began in 1990. He trains both flat and steeplechase horses.  In 1986 he trained leading timber horse Where’s Pepo, as well as 3 year champ Geaux Beau in 2001.   Ricky also had massive success with multiple G1 Winner Tres Touche. He also trained Dixie Colony who won the Maryland Million Starter Handicap in 2004 and again in 2005.  Then in 2006 under Ricky's experienced eye, a flat race horse called Jimmie Echo not only became a successful steeplechaser but won the prestigious title of 3 year old champion of the year.  Another horse that had a successful campaign for 2006 was Cheadles winning the Claiming horse of the year award. 

 Ricky has  been ranked in the top 5 on the leading trainer list for the last 5 years.

 
     
  The stable currently has approximately 25 horses, both flat and steeplechase. Ricky is based at the Fair Hill Training Center which has a 1 mile dirt track, 7/8-mile Tapeta track, 7/8-mile turf course and over 300 acres of beautiful Maryland cross country.  
     
  Ricky has four children, McLane, Liza, Parker and Natalie.
